Successful candidates must have :

  • Current registration and licensure in the state of Iowa as an RN

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

Under supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Restorative Nurse provides restorative/rehabilitative care and services to residents as identified as part of the care plan; operates within the guidelines of established policy and procedure consistent with accepted/legal standards of practice relevant to incumbent’s level of training and education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to facility policies and procedures.
  2. Coordinate restorative nursing program throughout the facility.
  3. Coordinate completion of initial assessment(s) for new admissions to identify restorative potential. Identify need for referral to therapy and/or coordination of restorative nursing program.
  4. Work closely with the therapist(s) to establish restorative nursing goals and interventions for the resident’s care plan.
  5. Assign duties to and supervise follow through of Restorative Aides/CNA’s.
  6. Complete monthly summaries on residents in the restorative program.
  7. Assist with development of policies, procedures and budget for restorative nursing program.
  8. Assist with discharge planning and care conferences as appropriate.
  9. Perform restorative/rehabilitative care and services (ambulation, range of motion, self-feeding and other activities of daily living), with residents as indicated in individual care plans.
  10. Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action.
  11. Participate in interdisciplinary and other facility meetings as assigned.
  12. Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care for assigned residents.
Qualifications: Education/Certification/License
  • Current registration and licensure in the state of Iowa as an LPN or RN. Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
  • Current, valid CPR Certification.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of long-term care, OBRA and rehabilitation care is preferred.
Experience
  • Working knowledge in geriatric restorative care is preferred.
Skills/Abilities
  • Functional Literacy in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to coordinate Nursing Restorative Program and provide guidance and training to other nurses, Restorative Aides, CNA’s regarding restorative procedures.
  • Proficient interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to facilitate interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and record resident responses to treatment preferred.
  • Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:

  • Provide restorative nursing care to residents following policies and procedures.
  • Report residents’ needs and concerns to the Director of Nursing.
