GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
Under the supervision of the Housekeeping manager,  direct the operations of the laundry department. Cross train to Guest Room Attendant and Public Space Attendant Jobs and perform in those functions as needed. Operate or tend washing machines to wash all hotel laundry. This position serves as a trainer. Trainers are responsible for supervising the learning experiences of students in all areas of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and The Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.

This Job is Full-Time (40 hours a week) with Benefits. Currently we are looking to cover the times of 7am-3:30pm with weekend availability required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide leadership and supervision for the laundry department staff and processes.
  • Efficiently operate and maintain all laundry equipment and ensure proper maintenance routines are followed.
  • Troubles shoot and communicate any equipment issues.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage and disposition of all chemicals.
  • Coordinate all operations of the laundry department.
  • Assign and prioritize work tasks to ensure timely completion of all laundry.
  • Train and coach employees and students on all aspects of laundry. Provide performance feedback as required.
  • Communicate with managers and other supervisors and share and coordinate information related to laundry. 
  • Apply customer feedback to service improvement efforts.
  • Maintain compliance with required training and follow up with team to complete theirs.
  • Requisition necessary supplies and equipment and keep accurate inventory.
  • Manage the procedure for reclaimed/condemned/converted program for stained linens. 
  • Analyze and record personnel and operation data, write related activity reports and keep accurate logs.
  • Sort and count articles removed from dryers, and fold, wrap, or hang them. 
  • Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required. 
  • Mix and add detergents, dyes, bleaches, starches, and other solutions and chemicals to clean, color, dry, or stiffen articles. 
  • Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment.
  • Makes self familiar with and follows regulations, policies, procedures and protocols of the program, college, and facility, and helps ensure compliance by the entire department.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned, including coverage for all housekeeping jobs.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in a laundry setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent (34-66%) walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 25 pound.  Constant (67-100%) standing, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, visual inspection,  hearing, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with body, arms, or legs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior Housekeeping or Laundry Experience required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a post high school degree.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with prior supervisory experience.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a minimum for two years full-time experience in a related hospitality setting or the equivalent education and related work experience
