The Web Content Coordinator serves as a key member of the College of Nursing Marketing and Communication team by collaborating in developing a web strategy, ensuring content is current, high-quality, accessible, on brand, and optimized for search.

This individual in this position will maintain and ensure the college’s website meets trends, audience needs by ensuring content is high-quality, current, on brand, and maintains a positive user experience. The web content coordinator will use tools like Siteimprove and Google Analytics to provide data-driven recommendations to improve and enhance the website.

Reporting to the executive director of communication, alumni, and external relations, the web content coordinator will work closely with professional staff in the college, the central university web team, and other partners as needed. As part of the marketing and communication team, the individual will be expected to work at all College of Nursing events such as Homecoming, Famil y Weekend, reunions, etc. This includes set up, tear down, or working at assigned stations, to name a few.

Duties to include:

  • Create high-quality and consistent on-brand web experiences for stories, news articles, videos, photo galleries, live dashboards and other content.
  • Write, revise, and maintain effective, high-quality web content and copy to ensure optimal site experiences and usability.
  • Collaborate with department units to ensure webpages and content are connected to marketing goals and strategy.
  • Carry out website redesigns for programs according to marketing priorities and strategy.
  • Ensure college and university brand policy consistency in assigned projects.
  • Assess existing site structures and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Utilize Siteimprove to maintain integrity of college website.
  • Support website redesign.
  • Coordinate website redesign projects involving multiple contributors. This includes projects such as designing and revamping college pages to incorporate video testimonials and quotes.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communication, technology, web design, English, journalism, marketing, communication, advertising, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically, 1 year of directly related experience that includes knowledge and implementation of accessibility requirements for digital properties in higher education.
  • Proficient in relevant computer hardware and software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, quality control (such as SiteImprove), CMS (Drupal), Style Sheets, HTML, business analytics (Google Analytics and Google Search Console).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (ex. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Related experience in web strategy and/or web content management.
  • A keen eye for design and excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work under a deadline while remaining positive amid receiving constructive feedback.
  • Effective time management while working on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with university policies, procedures as related to position, and/or brand standards.  
  • Experience with AP-style.
  • Prior experience working in an academic or higher education environment.
