J.B. Hunt is hiring experienced diesel mechanics for a Mobile Trailer Mechanic position!
The Senior Mobile Technician is responsible for performing complex maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis, and power equipment at a customer site or rail yard using a mobile service truck. This is not a roadside repair position. Technicians must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete all fleet maintenance processes while checking that units meet J. B. Hunt specifications.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:

Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor and trailer equipment

Oversee recall campaigns and sign off on completion

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS system and specialized equipment including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment

May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks

Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard

Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; properly attend to service truck parts inventory

Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures

Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs

Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment

Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight

Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign off
Shift schedule: Wednesday - Saturday (7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.)

Qualifications:
-
18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 3 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent AND demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences

Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines

Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program

Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
-
Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
-
DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes
Preferred Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent

Welding certification

Forklift certification and experience

EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License

Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively

Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds) and wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
