The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a Research Associate to support the multi-disciplinary laboratory of Dr. Andrean Burnett by working with the Principal Investigator and other scientists on preclinical studies involving the treatment and prevention of head and neck cancer and novel drug delivery systems. The research associate will also be responsible for overseeing and managing lab safety and working with environmental health and safety. Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are necessary.
Percent of Time: 100% Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; other hours based on needs of research.

Required Qualifications
· A Bachelor’s Degree in in the Biological Sciences, supplemented by one or more years of progressively responsible experience in the conduct of natural or health science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Experience with Flow Cytometry
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Sound independent judgment and competence in research methodologies
· Strong analytical and computer skills required; Proficiency with computer spreadsheet, word-processing and database software.

· Animal handling experience required.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established project timelines
· Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Desirable Qualifications
· Careful attention to detail.
