This position is for the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa, Washington County Regional Center, Jones County Regional Center, and Iowa County Center.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Teach the provided State Nurse Aide curriculum and supervise students in both lab and clinical settings. The curriculum consists of 30 hours of lecture and 25 hours of lab skills held in a classroom/lab setting, and 30 hours of clinical held in a local facility. There is the face to face or the hybrid format that the instructor can choose from for their course.
The schedule for this position will be made around the instructors availability and course need.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Effectively teach the Nurse Aide curriculum
- Serve as a professional role model
- Assist students in achieving course objectives
- Evaluate and document student performance of required skills in lab/clinical settings
- Complete and return necessary lab/clinical paperwork in a timely manner
- Participate in meetings as appropriate
- Maintains familiarity with policies and protocols of the program, college and clinical agencies.
- Provides student instruction for the full required hours, utilizing instructional time effectively.
- Assumes responsibility, is prompt and dependable in attendance, and effectively applies problem-solving skills.
- Assists students in identifying strengths/areas for improvement in skills demonstration.
- Explains expectations to students; supervises and documents performance; keeps students informed of their progress.
- Maintains confidentiality with residents, students, facilities, and college.
- Welcomes, values, and nurtures people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking most of the time in a classroom/laboratory/clinic setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching. Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally (10-33%). Will travel to other on-campus facilities, off-campus facilities and agencies to teach, attend meetings, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and have worked for two full-time years as an RN.
- Must be able to demonstrate all technical skills required of students. May potentially be subject to bio-hazardous chemicals; moveable mechanical parts; and fumes, odors, dusts, and mists.
- Person in this position must satisfactorily complete Kirkwood’s Bloodborne Pathogens training, TB training.
