Position Summary:

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an Application Developer. The Application Developer (Foundations – UI Community Connect) role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless implementation and ongoing support of Epic and supporting systems within the healthcare enterprise. This position involves a blend of data analysis, implementation support, ongoing maintenance, and training to ensure optimal system performance and user proficiency.

Position Responsibilities:

Data Analysis

  • Ad hoc Analysis and Reporting: Provide detailed and timely analysis and reporting of Epic build data to support decision-making, implementation, and system optimization.

Implementation Support

  • Initial Facility Build: Export, modify, and import facility structure data to ensure accurate and efficient setup.
  • Initial Security Build: Export, modify, and import linkable security templates to establish secure and compliant system access.
  • Integrated Testing Coordination: Coordinate and oversee integrated testing processes to ensure system functionality and reliability.

Ongoing Support

  • Epic Facility Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and updates to the Epic facility structure to ensure continuous system performance and usability.
  • General system updates: Perform other bulk updates, as needed.

Training

  • Epic Certifications: Obtain and maintain any necessary Epic certifications to stay current with system updates and best practices, which are relevant to the role.

General

  • Understand and adhere to Change Management policies and procedures, and IT Security policies and procedures.

Salary: $65,845.00 to commensurate – 4B

Education Required

  • Bachelors in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in the development and/or support of applications that support and enhance business processes, typically 3-5 years for an Application Developer role.
  • Experience contributing to an integrated information system implementation cycle though areas such as design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, testing and support.
  • Experience working with end-users to define system requirements, understand business needs and convert business requirements into functional/technical specifications for complex integrated systems build.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with MS Excel

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency working with MS Excel
  • Experience supporting an Electronic Health Record (EHR) in an ambulatory or hospital setting.
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system implementation projects.
  • Experience contributing to the support, configuration, and development of at least one Epic-specific healthcare enterprise application.
  • Epic certification related but not limited to the following: Security and / or Core Analyst.
