GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
The Learning Assistant (LA) supports students' academic success and fosters a positive learning environment. The LA will work closely with students to enhance instruction and provide individualized assistance.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer Service
  • Provide subject matter support to students as well as general study skills 
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for students
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Refer students to appropriate resources and support services as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and participation.
  • Lead small group study sessions and tutoring sessions.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to students struggling with course concepts.
  • Answer student questions and clarify course content.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office  applications
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

The position involves sitting often in an office setting (frequently 34-66%). Constant (67-100%) talking and listening to people in person, viewing a computer screen, and other types of close visual work. Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Frequent (34-66%) walking, grasping and repetitive motion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Earned a B+ or better in the course, providing study support for
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or a faculty member’s recommendation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Experience as a tutor, academic coach, or learning assistant
