GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Instructional Lab Assistant will assist faculty with teaching students in the lab environment. This position will leverage their professional level technical knowledge and expertise to assist faculty with answering student questions, demonstrating skills, and working through hands-on projects and activities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist course instructor with lab-based projects and activities.
  • Demonstrate use of specialized tools and equipment to support student learning.
  • Answer student questions pertaining to technical skills.
  • Assist the instructor in monitoring student activities to ensure proper safety procedures are being used in the lab environment.
  • Read and understand hands-on project goals to properly assist in implementation of activities.

  • Follow guidance of course instructor in administering hands-on activities.
  • Apply technical expertise and knowledge accurately and effectively.
  • Coordinate instructor to ensure that skills education is being applied to students consistently.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
