Job Title: Technician II (Quality Control - CQC)

Location: Coralville, IA

Shift: First (Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm)

Covid Shift: First (Monday - Friday 6:00am - 1:50pm)

Purpose statement:

The Technician II is responsible for evaluating products in support of all manufacturing areas within Integrated DNA Technologies. This evaluation involves determining the pass/fail status of products by using a wide variety of molecular biology methods and specialized equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs QC tests, record and analyze data according to standard operating procedures

  • Demonstrates manual dexterity and technical proficiency with pipetting and sample procedures.

  • Communicates with all levels of peers and management to ensure detailed information transfer.

  • Uses computers and a variety of custom software in a windows based environment to maintain accurate and detailed sample and instrument records.

  • Performs maintenance and calibration on a variety of specialized equipment.

  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.

  • Organizes and appropriately prioritizes workload to ensure efficiency in sample handling.

  • Executes multiple processes simultaneously (multi-tasks) to ensure efficiency in sample handling.

  • Adheres to all departmental protocols, rules, contamination controls, and safety procedures.

  • Understands and complies with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO13485 requirements.

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Departmental Specific Functions:

  • Operates a variety of equipment related to Next Generation Sequencing; including manual and automated sample handling equipment and other general laboratory equipment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field required (Biology, Genetics, Chemistry or a related life science field preferred); alternatively, an Associate’s degree with 2 years of IDT experience required.

Professional Experience:

  • Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (and an emphasis on Excel) required.

Position Specific Experience/Skills

  • Experience with sterile techniques required.

  • PCR experience required.

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation preferred.

  • Experience with NGS preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently

Constant (67-100% of work day)

  • Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds at normal range; ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when auscultating and percussing.

Visual Acuity:

  • Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.

  • Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.

  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
