Visiting Assistant Professor of Education

Coe College

Coe College seeks qualified applicants who are passionate about teaching in a small liberal arts environment for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Education position beginning Fall 2024.

 

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • The successful candidate will teach three education courses per semester (six per year) with class sizes ranging from 10 to 25 students and will have an interest and ability to embrace Coe’s student-centered approach to education. Working in a supportive environment, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to and influence the learning and success of our diverse student body.   

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates are required to have at least a Masters in Education or Educational Leadership. A minimum of five years teaching at the K-8 level is required. Candidates with an interest in teaching Exceptional Learners, Elementary Social Studies Methods, Elementary Language Arts and/or Reading Methods are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred candidates are team oriented and have a strong commitment to DEI.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.  Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.  

Department Profile

The Department of Education at Coe prepares around 30-40 preservice teachers each year to enter the field as art, elementary, music, physical education and secondary teachers. We believe that the most effective preparation for teaching is one that combines a liberal arts education with courses in the theory and practice of teaching. Our students gain practical experience in applying professional and general education through over 120 hours of field experiences prior to student teaching, methods coursework and, if pursuing licensure, through their student teaching experience.
