GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Under limited supervision, performs student support and general office support work at the Kirkwood Jones County Regional Center in Monticello. Duties to include but not limited to: Communicating information to students, coordinating student materials for Kirkwood classes; composing routine student correspondence; assisting with student assessments; provide general software support to students; proctoring student exams; assisting with event setup and monitoring: maintaining records and general information that requires knowledge of policies and procedures related to Kirkwood Community College and KRCUI initiatives. This position may require working a rare evening or weekend event, but the typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide positive student, faculty, and community customer service with frequent interruptions.
  • Function as the front desk first point of contact with excellent customer service on phone and in person.
  • Responsible for offerings, arrangements, and communication for Continuing Education classes.
  • Assist with communicating information to students through a variety of mediums/platforms.
  • Input data as needed for concurrent enrollment students.
  • Perform various office clerical duties including typing, scanning, maintaining copiers and other equipment, ordering supplies, sorting/distributing mail, etc.
  • Coordinate student support services for students in collaboration with campus departments.
  • Schedule and proctor testing for students with ada accommodations.
  • Assist in the scheduling, promotion, registration, and starting of all Kirkwood offerings.
  • Assist with general software support to students.
  • Assist with organizing and running center events.
  • Assist with student life events, registration and orientation activities for students.
  • Answer and/or re-direct basic inquiries from internal and external customers either via phone calls, email or in person.  
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves sitting most of the time in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, grasping and walking. Frequent (34-66%) viewing computer and other close visual work and repetitive motion in using the computer to perform job-related functions. Constant (67-100%) communication: talking and listening, either face-to-face or via the telephone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required. Any combination of office/clerical/communication experience and/or post–secondary office support training experience OR an appropriate Associates Degree.
  • Must have at least one year experience using word processing and computer equipment. Must be able to type at an acceptable level and experience with spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software preferred with computerized record systems helpful. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • AA Degree preferred.
  • Two years related office experience and excellent computer skills and office equipment including—Microsoft Office, Image Now, Datatel, fax printer and copy machines.
