GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a HVAC Instructor.  The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base in HVAC in both the residential and commercial industries. Successful candidate should be proficient in technical math, analyzing documents, and also have knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level is desirable.  Primary duties will include instructing students, meeting with industry stakeholders and communicating with department staff, students, and other faculty.  
 
Teaching occurs mornings and afternoons, and is comprised of face-to-face lecture, online learning, and hands-on laboratory activities.  Related work includes being accessible to advise current and potential students, serving on college committees, developing curriculum, evaluating and reporting student performance in compliance with college policies and procedures, assisting in the development and implementation of college initiatives, and promoting industrial technology programs to business and industry.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instruction including labs.
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned
  • Design industrial curriculum

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in and 3-years relevant experience. 
  • State of Iowa Journeyperson License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Bachelor / Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • Teaching at a college level or experience in industrial training.
