GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 
Kirkwood Community College's Business and IT Department seeks a skilled, enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach face-to-face at the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa in Coralville. The position requires the candidate to have a master’s degree in accounting, or a master’s degree with 6 graduate credits in accounting and 6 graduate credits in an applicable business discipline, or a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a current CPA license. Experience working with students or previous training experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be available to teach the following course(s) face-to-face for Spring 2024:

  • ACC-152 Financial Accounting (4 credit hours), M/W, 12:20 – 2:20 PM
  • ACC-156 Managerial Accounting (4 credit hours), M/W, 2:30 – 4:30 PM 
$1,294 per credit hour of instruction.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instruction in discipline.
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and the general public.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, or a master’s degree with 6 graduate credits in accounting and 6 graduate credits in an applicable business discipline, or a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a current CPA license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
