The University of Iowa, University Budget Office is seeking a Business Analyst. This position reports to the Director of Budget Planning and Analysis and is responsible for the development and support of campus-wide budgeting systems and tools within the University Budget Office. This role primarily supports the University’s IPlan budget and planning system, in addition to other financial systems and reporting solutions as required.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the and .

Duties to Include:

  • Identify system requirements for different systems used in the Budget Office by analyzing processes and operations.
  • Conduct thorough testing of systems and coordinate modifications to identify and resolve issues.
  • Address user inquiries and issues, offering timely and effective solutions.
  • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Collect and analyze user feedback to identify common issues and areas for improvement.

Location: University Capitol Centre (UCC)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Typically 1 year of business analysis or process improvement experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with automated accounting or financial systems.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications including Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical/statistical skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Experience developing and administering end-user testing.
  • Experience creating training materials.
  • Experience with using or supporting Oracle systems.
